Classic Marble Company Opens New Frontiers in Luxury Design

Marble has long been associated with timeless beauty, valued for its rarity, craftsmanship and the individuality of every stone. Yet, as contemporary design becomes more personal and discerning, the material is being viewed through a new lens. No longer limited to floors, walls and other traditional surfaces, marble is finding expression in artefacts, statement objects and art. Classic Marble Company is leading this evolution, bringing together the inherent beauty of natural stone with advanced technology and fine craftsmanship to expand the role of marble in luxury design. As CMC takes marble design to the next level, it is also expanding into bespoke furniture and décor, bringing the material into one-of-a-kind statement pieces.

Central to this work is Robotor, CMC’s AI-powered marble carving technology, which enables intricate forms and highly detailed designs to be realised in natural stone with exceptional precision. Being the pioneers of this technology, with exclusive access in Asia, CMC is bringing together AI, advanced machining and the artistry of marble to translate complex designs into the stone itself. The technology is housed at CMC’s state-of-the-art manufacturing and processing facility in Silvassa, alongside its expansive Experience Centre, one of the largest in Asia.

A distinctive canvas for this exploration is Namibian Crystal White, an exclusive CMC marble known for its exceptional whiteness, structural strength and refined finish. Its inherent robustness, paired with the finesse of its natural character, offers a compelling foundation for creative exploration. The material’s natural beauty and distinctive properties allow CMC to explore a broad range of expressions, from intricate artefacts detailing to highly personalised design elements.

In collaboration with reD Architects, CMC’s foray into bespoke furniture and décor brings this design approach to life through distinctive pieces for contemporary interiors. The collection features artefacts interpretations of familiar home décor forms, ranging from Featherweight (Rajwara-inspired low seating), Thirty Degrees (a seat born from two blocks) to Axis (slim brass shelves holding unique artefacts), combining thoughtful design and precise detailing.

Beyond the furniture collection, Robotor also enables CMC to create bespoke décor elements and intricate artefacts. One such example is the The White Knight, a Batman sculpture, carved from Namibian Crystal White using the technology. It demonstrates how contemporary forms can be realised in marble with precision while retaining the material’s natural character and structural integrity.

Robotor forms part of CMC’s wider technology ecosystem, complemented by Forza360, its advanced marble processing technology that brings precision to cutting, finishing and polishing. Together, these capabilities bring technology and craftsmanship into closer dialogue, allowing CMC to work with the inherent individuality of natural stone while achieving a high degree of precision throughout the creation process.

For architects and interior designers, this opens a more expansive design vocabulary, particularly within luxury residential, hospitality and high-end commercial spaces. It brings together the qualities that make marble enduringly desirable; natural rarity, individuality and craftsmanship with the freedom to create forms that are specific to a space, a brief or a design vision.

Speaking about this evolution, Mohanraj Jagannivasan, Chief Executive Officer, Classic Marble Company, said, “Marble has always had an extraordinary ability to define a space, but we believe its potential extends far beyond traditional applications. Technology is allowing us to explore the material in new ways while preserving the natural beauty and individuality that make every stone unique. Our foray into bespoke furniture and décor marks a natural extension of this vision, allowing us to take our expertise beyond architectural surfaces and into distinctive, made-to-order creations. With technologies such as Robotor and Forza360, we can bring greater precision to intricate forms and explore new design possibilities with materials such as Namibian Crystal White. This expansion reflects our commitment to growing the business by opening up new applications for marble and bringing its timeless appeal into a wider range of design-led spaces.”

CMC’s approach reflects a larger shift in luxury design, where exclusivity is increasingly defined not only by the rarity of a material, but by the imagination and craftsmanship with which it is brought to life. By combining the natural artistry of marble with advanced technology, CMC is helping shape a new era for the material - one where its possibilities are limited only by the vision of the designer.
