Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower targets completion in 2028, with construction progressing on the 1,000-metre-plus skyscraper designed to become the world’s tallest building.
Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower is targeting completion in 2028 as construction advances on the ambitious skyscraper, which is expected to exceed 1,000 metres and become the world’s tallest building. The project, located in Jeddah, is progressing under a construction contract valued at SAR 7.2 billion (approximately $1.9 billion).
The tower has reached the 120th floor and stands at approximately 482 metres, according to an update from Kingdom Holding Company. More than 322,000 cubic metres of concrete have been poured, representing around 72% of the planned total. Façade installation has also advanced, with more than 3,900 panels installed, accounting for approximately 14% of the overall requirement.

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations are underway, while work has started on the steel components of the tower’s Sky Terrace. Kingdom Holding CEO Talal Ibrahim Al Maiman expects the structure to reach approximately 500 metres before the end of 2026. The company continues to target completion in 2028.
Designed to rise beyond the 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Jeddah Tower is planned to feature 157 floors and a mix of residential, commercial and hospitality spaces. Its proposed facilities include luxury apartments, office spaces, a Four Seasons hotel and an observation deck offering views of Jeddah and the Red Sea.
The development is the centrepiece of Jeddah Economic City, a large-scale urban project intended to establish a new residential, commercial and tourism destination along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.
Construction originally began in 2013 but was halted in 2018 after the tower reached 63 floors. Work officially resumed in January 2025 following a SAR 7.2 billion agreement between Jeddah Economic Company and Saudi Binladin Group to complete the project.

The tower’s progress forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to expand its infrastructure, real estate and tourism sectors. If completed as planned, the project will set a new global benchmark for skyscraper construction and strengthen Jeddah’s position as an international destination.
