LG and Meralco Bring Smarter Homes to Filipino Families

LG Electronics Philippines and Meralco unveil an interactive smart home experience combining connected appliances and electricity management solutions to help households improve convenience and manage energy consumption.

LG Electronics Philippines and Manila Electric Company (Meralco) have joined hands to demonstrate how connected home appliances and intelligent energy management solutions can support more convenient and energy-conscious living for Filipino households. The companies unveiled the Meralco Smart Home on November 5, 2026, an interactive showcase designed to illustrate how smart appliances and electricity management technologies can work together in a residential setting.

At the centre of LG's presentation is its Affectionate Intelligence concept, which focuses on making technology more intuitive and responsive to users' everyday needs. The company showcased a range of connected home appliances, including air conditioners, refrigerators, washer-dryers, microwave ovens, Styler garment care units and televisions. These products demonstrate how integrated technologies can simplify household routines and provide greater control over everyday activities.

Meralco complemented the appliance showcase with its energy management initiatives, highlighting solutions that help consumers understand and manage electricity consumption. These include Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which provides eligible customers with more detailed information about their electricity usage, and Net Metering, which allows qualified customers with solar installations to receive credits for excess electricity exported to the grid.

The company also presented Peak/Off-Peak pricing options, encouraging consumers to adjust electricity usage according to applicable rates. Its Bright Ideas platform offers information and practical guidance on energy efficiency and responsible electricity consumption.

The showcase featured interactive demonstrations to help visitors understand the technologies in everyday settings. Smart Home After Dark, an escape-room-style activity, introduced household appliances and energy-related challenges, while A Day in the Life in the Smart Home demonstrated how connected devices can support daily routines.
