IHCL and Adani Airports Plan Eight Hotels Across Four Cities

IHCL and Adani Airport Holdings sign an agreement to develop and operate eight hotels with over 2,000 rooms across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati under four hospitality brands.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) sign a multi-hotel operating agreement to develop eight hotels comprising more than 2,000 rooms across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati. The partnership strengthens airport-linked hospitality infrastructure through IHCL’s Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger brands, catering to business, leisure and transit travellers.

Under the agreement, Adani Airport Holdings will develop the properties, while IHCL will manage their operations through its multi-brand hospitality portfolio. The hotel portfolio includes three Taj hotels, two Vivanta properties, one Gateway hotel and two Ginger hotels, covering luxury, upscale and midscale accommodation segments.

In Mumbai, the development includes a Taj hotel under construction at Terminal 2 of the airport. Lucknow will receive a Vivanta and a Ginger hotel, while Ahmedabad will feature a Taj and a Vivanta, both in advanced stages of construction. Guwahati will have three properties: a Taj, a Gateway and a Ginger hotel.

Together, the eight hotels will offer accommodation, dining, meetings and events, wellness and recreational facilities. The additions will take IHCL’s portfolio to 25 hotels across its brands at key airports in India, further strengthening its presence in the country's aviation and hospitality ecosystem.

Commenting on the partnership, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, says airport-centric developments are emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs as India's aviation sector expands. He highlights the agreement as an opportunity to strengthen the company's multi-brand presence across major aviation gateways.

Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airport Holdings, says the company's vision extends beyond airport operations to developing integrated Airport Cities that bring together hospitality, business, retail and leisure. The partnership with IHCL supports this approach by adding established hospitality brands to its airport-linked developments.

Adani Airport Holdings has established Adani Airport City Limited to develop a land bank exceeding 655 acres across six airports in five states, including nearly 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. In the first phase, the company plans to invest more than ₹20,000 crore to develop approximately 22 million square feet across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.

The agreement reflects the growing focus on airport-led mixed-use developments, where hospitality, commercial infrastructure and leisure facilities contribute to creating integrated urban destinations.
