The LaLiT to Invest 600 Crore to Add 1,000 Hotel Rooms

The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group plans to invest ₹600 crore over five years to add 1,000 hotel rooms, expanding through owned properties and management contracts across established and emerging hospitality destinations in India.

The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group has announced a ₹600 crore expansion plan over the next five years, targeting approximately 1,000 additional hotel rooms across India. The expansion will increase the group’s inventory from 2,300 to around 3,300 rooms, combining investments in owned properties with an asset-light strategy based on hotel management contracts.

The group plans to develop approximately 50% of the additional inventory through owned properties, with the remaining rooms coming through management agreements. The strategy enables the company to expand its geographical presence while limiting capital commitments for properties developed by partners.

The investment includes approximately ₹500 crore for projects across five destinations: Ahmedabad, Chitrakoot, Bekal, Goa and Udaipur. The remaining ₹100 crore is allocated to maintenance and refurbishment across the group’s portfolio.

Ahmedabad leads the development pipeline with a proposed 240-room luxury hotel expected to open ahead of the city’s 2030 Commonwealth Games. The group is also planning a property with approximately 50 rooms in Chitrakoot, expanding its presence in a destination associated with religious tourism.

At existing properties, The LaLiT plans to add 100 rooms at its Bekal resort, 50 rooms at its Goa hotel and 55 rooms at its Udaipur property. The Udaipur expansion will also include additional banquet and spa facilities, strengthening the hotel’s leisure and events offerings.

Under its management-contract strategy, Vrindavan will be the first destination, with a proposed property of approximately 75 rooms. The group is exploring further opportunities in Chennai, Hyderabad, Leh, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lakshadweep, Siliguri and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It aims to secure close to 20 management contracts over the coming years.

Chairperson and Managing Director Jyotsna Suri says the group intends to combine selective investment in properties it owns with partnerships that allow it to enter new markets. She emphasises that expansion will retain the brand’s identity and service standards across both owned and managed hotels.

The expansion will be funded primarily through internal accruals and savings, supported by lower interest costs over the past two years. The group currently operates 14 hotels in India, including 12 luxury properties under The LaLiT brand and two midscale hotels under The LaLiT Traveller. The plan reflects the company’s effort to grow its hotel portfolio while balancing investment in existing assets with opportunities in new destinations.
