UP CM Launches 12,000 Cr Housing Projects in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath launches the Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar housing schemes in Lucknow, covering 10,680 acres and involving an estimated ₹12,000 crore investment.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launches two major housing schemes in Lucknow, Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar, developed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) across a combined 10,680 acres. The projects involve an estimated investment of ₹12,000 crore and form part of the city's planned expansion. 

The Varun Vihar scheme covers more than 6,500 acres and is expected to provide residential facilities to over six lakh people. Located near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the project is also planned to offer connectivity to the Purvanchal Expressway. The Naimish Nagar scheme spans around 4,100 acres along Sitapur Road and is projected to benefit more than four lakh people.

The launch includes the foundation-laying and plot registration process for both schemes. The projects are planned to provide residential plots as well as housing options for different income groups, including affordable homes and units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The LDA also launches the foundation work for five multi-storey apartment projects with a combined estimated cost of ₹2,166 crore. These developments are planned to add around 4,150 apartments across locations including Anant Nagar, Gomti Nagar, Sharda Nagar Extension, Aishbagh and Basant Kunj.

The Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar schemes are positioned as part of Lucknow's broader urban expansion strategy. The projects are intended to support planned residential development while providing infrastructure and basic services alongside new housing areas.

Connectivity forms an important component of the development plans. Varun Vihar's location near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway provides access to a major regional transport corridor, while Naimish Nagar is located on Sitapur Road near the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. The state government also plans to strengthen road connectivity between Lucknow and Naimisharanya through four-lane infrastructure.

The projects are expected to support Lucknow's expansion as a wider regional urban centre. The state government is pursuing a proposed State Capital Region encompassing Lucknow and neighbouring districts, including Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki and Rae Bareli.

With the launch of the two large township schemes and five apartment developments, the LDA adds a significant volume of residential development to Lucknow's pipeline. The combined initiatives are aimed at accommodating growing housing demand while supporting the city's planned expansion through new residential areas and supporting infrastructure.
