Marriott Debuts Tribute Portfolio in Mumbai With 47-Room Hotel

Marriott International brings its Tribute Portfolio brand to Mumbai with the opening of The Ballard, a 47-room boutique hotel in South Mumbai’s historic Ballard Estate, featuring three dining outlets and Art Deco-inspired interiors.

Marriott International has introduced its Tribute Portfolio brand to Mumbai with the opening of The Ballard, a 47-room boutique hotel in the city’s historic Ballard Estate. The property brings the brand’s independent hospitality concept to South Mumbai, combining the neighbourhood’s architectural heritage and maritime history with contemporary design and dining experiences.

Located opposite the General Post Office, The Ballard draws inspiration from the Neoclassical and Edwardian architecture of its surroundings, reinterpreted through Art Deco-inspired interiors. The hotel is positioned close to prominent landmarks, including the Fort precinct, Mumbai Port, Flora Fountain, Horniman Circle and the Asiatic Society Library.

The property features 47 rooms, including a Presidential Suite. Its interiors combine classic detailing with modern amenities, while vintage radios and telephones add elements of old Bombay’s character. Selected rooms offer views of the General Post Office and Mumbai Port, connecting the guest experience with the area's historic identity.

Dining is a central part of the hotel's offering, with three outlets catering to different experiences. Goma serves pan-Asian cuisine, while Goma Sky, the rooftop lounge, offers Asian small plates alongside views of Mumbai Port and the Arabian Sea. The Kettle Room, located in the lobby, operates as a café serving locally brewed chai, speciality coffee and freshly baked treats.

Commenting on the opening, Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, says the property strengthens Tribute Portfolio’s presence in India by connecting independent hospitality with the cultural character of its destination.

The hotel is managed under Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio, a collection of independent hotels known for their individual identities and connections with local communities. Guests can also access the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme, earning and redeeming points on eligible stays.

Its location provides access to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, suburban railway services and Mumbai Metro Line 3. The opening adds to Marriott International’s hospitality portfolio in India while expanding the presence of boutique and lifestyle-led hotel concepts in Mumbai’s established heritage district.
