Apple partners with LG to develop smart home devices including a doorbell, thermostat, lock and security cameras, expanding its connected-home ecosystem ahead of the expected launch of its new smart home hub.
Apple is expanding its presence in the smart home market through a partnership with LG Electronics to develop a range of connected-home accessories. The lineup includes a video doorbell, smart thermostat, deadbolt lock, indoor and outdoor security cameras and a floodlight camera, according to reports. The products are designed to work with Apple’s upcoming smart home ecosystem and are expected to carry the LG brand.
The collaboration forms part of Apple’s broader smart home strategy, which is centred on a new home hub expected to be introduced on October 13. The hub is reportedly designed with a six-inch square display that can be placed on a countertop or mounted on a wall and integrates Siri-based artificial intelligence for controlling connected devices and delivering personalised household information.

Under the partnership, Apple contributes to product design, features and engineering, while LG handles manufacturing and product support. Regulatory filings submitted by LG to the US Federal Communications Commission and UL Solutions identify products including the LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat, LG Temperature Sensor and multiple security cameras.
Several of the upcoming devices support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity alongside Thread and Matter, two protocols increasingly adopted across the smart home industry. The smart deadbolt also incorporates ultra-wideband technology, enabling proximity-based automatic unlocking when a user approaches the door.
The LG accessories are not expected to reach consumers immediately, with development reportedly trailing Apple’s own upcoming devices. The products are expected to become available in the following months as LG completes manufacturing and regulatory processes.
For Apple, the partnership represents a renewed effort to strengthen HomeKit and build a more comprehensive connected-home ecosystem. The company is seeking to compete more directly with established smart home platforms such as Amazon Ring and Google Nest by combining its devices, software and Siri AI with a broader range of household accessories.

For LG, the collaboration expands its smart home portfolio beyond its established appliance and television businesses. The planned products also represent a broader push into categories such as smart locks, doorbells and home security cameras, where the company has historically had a smaller presence.
The partnership builds on the companies’ longstanding relationship, with LG Display already supplying components for several Apple products and the two companies having previously collaborated on displays and television-related services.
